                               MAYAMALAVAGOULA

Mayamalavagoula, this raaga is known for the beginners to go for practice at the very

beginning. It is chosen to give so for practice because the swaras in this raaga are set so distinctly

that a beginner can easily find the difference of each swara. Right from Purandara Das's teaching

time it has become a convention to choose this raaga for beginners of Indian classical music.

It is one of the Janya raagas in the classical music. It is janya raga for some following

famous raagas like bowli, jaganmohini, gowla, janaranjani, lalitha, malahari, saveri etc.are quite

well known.

The arohana for this raaga is            sa re ga ma pa da ne sa

and the avarohana is                         sa ne da pa ma ga re sa.

The swaras  used in this raga are

 madhyamam  -      susudha madhyamam

 dhaivatham   -      sudha dhaivatham
